Mise en Abyme
do you think, or do you feel?

“Mise en Abyme” is about a young man who overcomes his cultural, intellectual, and spiritual conditioning, and opens his mind to a new way of experiencing. GUY, 29, a natural critic of life. He carries around a camera with him, and documents his surroundings, an obsession – finding patterns and connections of cold human interaction, manipulation, greed, wastefulness. At some point, his filming of his environment comes back to him, and he gets beat up, his camera stolen, and all of his archives and editing studio destroyed. Stripped of the barrier between him and the “outside” world, he starts to see things, feel thing that are...impossible. A smell is a shape. A word “tastes”. He sees auras, glows, around people. Guy thinks he's going insane. He finds the name of this new experience – synesthesia, a brain condition where the senses are cross-wired, and stimulation in one sense gives a response in another. He stumbles his way through this new way of experiencing, and must learn to see the world a different way.
