The Emographic Census

The Emographic Census is a mapping of territories from multiple perspectives - personal, emotional, and subjective, on multiple medias and formats.

While a demographic census measures population facts & figures, an emographic census collects subjective experiences and dynamics of emotions.

The first Emographic Census was started in March 2009 in Macedonia. It resulted in the collection of 3500 photos, 7 hours of DV video, 6 hours of HD video, 21 hours of sound recordings, 4 rolls of 35mm stills, & 4 pixelvision audio tapes.

NotThisBody is currently developing a database & interface for navigation through the collected information. We plan to open up the Emographic Census to collaboration from the public, through the use of collaborative online editing software by Kaltura.

All media captured during the Emographic Census is licensed under the Creative Commons Share & Share Alike 3.0 Attribution License.
